Description |
This is a photograph of World War I veterans posing in front of Cook Avenue School, 9626 S. Cook Avenue. The black & white images shows a man in a sailor's uniform sitting cross legged, holding a sign that reads "Oak Lawn Veterans of World War Sept 6 1919. Other men, in Army uniforms, sailor suits, and civilian suits, are kneeling or sitting around him. Just behind him is Enid Auschwitz, the only female World War I veteran in Oak Lawn. The remaining veterans at standing in a line alongside the brick wall of the Cook School building. The verso has a photocopied identification note affixed and several hand written notes.
