This item is an oral history interview, approximately 1 hour 9 minutes long, with John Lukacek. His daughter Gail Dainton accompanied him and can be heard as well. The interview covers Lukacek's arrival in Oak Lawn in 1938, meeting his wife Lydia (Vallera) Lukacek, serving in the Air Force during World War II, and his experience with the 1967 tornado. John Lukacek started his business, Oak Lawn Excavating, in 1949. He was involved with the construction of many homes in the village during the 1950s and 1960s. |
