This is an oral history interview with Walter Hopkins. The interview is approximately forty-five minutes in length and covers his life and experiences in the village. Walter Hopkins is the son of John Hopkins, one of Oak Lawn's earliest doctors. He served as treasurer of the Oak Lawn Athletic Club and played first base for the team. Hopkins also served Oak Lawn as village clerk, on the school board, and also as a trustee for the Congregational Church board. Hopkins resigned his positions upon moving to Chicago about 1935. |
