Memo to the Oak Lawn Library Board of Trustees regarding the request to place a memorial marker regarding the Leavitt family on the property of the Oak Lawn Public Library. The family, along with the Chamberlain family, were early residents of the Village and owned a house that was formerly located on library property. Included is also the text of the proposed marker, as well as an historical article printed in the Oak Lawn Independent 9/23/1954. The Chamberlain Family, led by Franklin and Rebecca, emigrated from Canada in 1837 before moving to Oak Lawn in the 1840s. |
