Audit report prepared by the Office of the Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Justice in August of 2014. Equitable sharing revenues represent a share of the proceeds from the forfeiture of assets seized in the course of certain criminal investigations. The objective of the audit was to assess whether equitably shared cash and property received by the Oak Lawn Police Department was accounted for properly and used for allowable purposes as defined by the applicable regulations and guidelines. It was found that the OLPD did not fully comply with equitable sharing guidelines with respect to accounting for equitable sharing receipts and the allowable use of equitable sharing funds. |
