This is a flight log used by early African-American pilot Dale L. White on the first leg of his "Goodwill Flight" with Chauncey E. Spencer from Chicago to Washington D.C. This event was organized by the Challenger Air Pilots Association and the Chicago Defender newspaper. As part of his journey White stopped at Harlem Airport located on the southeast corner of 87th Street and Harlem Avenue, near Oak Lawn. Home to the Coffey School of Aeronautics, the airfield was in use as early as 1933 and closed around 1956 after its lease expired.
