This is an oral history interview with Dolores Shoot. The interview is approximately one hour and six minutes in length. The conversation covers Shoot's life and experiences in the village specifically focusing on the 1967 Oak Lawn Tornado. Dolores Shoot was first married to Charles Zenner and had three daughters: Mary, Cheryl, and Cathy. They divorced and Dolores married Ken Shoot. The Shoots owned a tavern, Shoot's Lynwood Lounge, near the intersection of 95th and Southwest Highway. Ken, Dolores, and Cathy were all in the tavern when the tornado struck on April 21, 1967. Ken Shoot suffered serious injuries; Cathy Zenner died as a result of her injuries; and Dolores was slightly injured. |
